Effective date: September 7, 2026
MitigateMyHouse (“MitigateMyHouse,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates mitigatemyhouse.com (the “Site”), a free referral service that connects homeowners with independent wildfire mitigation and defensible-space contractors. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
The short version: when you submit a request, we send the information in that request to as many as three independent contractors so they can contact you about the work. That is the entire purpose of this Site. If you would rather not have your information shared with contractors, please do not submit a request.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you submit a request through our form, we collect:
- Your name
- The property address, including city, state, and ZIP code
- Your email address and phone number
- Whether you have received a letter from your insurer, and what kind
- Any deadline stated on that notice
- Approximate lot size
- The type of work you believe you need
- Anything else you choose to type into the form or send us by email
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our analytics and advertising partners may automatically collect:
- IP address and approximate location derived from it
- Device type, browser type and version, and operating system
- Referring website or ad, and the search terms or campaign that brought you here
- Pages viewed, links clicked, time on page, and timestamps
- Cookie, pixel, and similar identifiers
Information from other sources
Contractors in our network may tell us whether they reached you, whether you hired them, and the general outcome of a referral. Advertising and analytics providers may give us aggregated campaign and audience information.
How we use your information
- To match you with contractors who serve your area and perform the work you described
- To send your request to those contractors so they can contact you
- To respond to questions you send us
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Site
- To measure and improve our advertising, including building audiences and measuring conversions
- To detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse
- To comply with law and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims
How we share your information
With contractors
When you submit a request, we share that request — including your name, property address, email address, and phone number — with up to three independent contractors in our network who serve your area. Those contractors contact you directly. Once we have shared your information, each contractor’s use of it is governed by that contractor’s own privacy practices, not by this policy. We do not control what contractors do with your information, and we cannot delete it from their systems on your behalf.
With service providers
We use vendors who process information on our behalf and under contract — website hosting, form processing, email delivery, analytics, spam filtering, and similar functions. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
With advertising and analytics partners
We use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies from advertising and analytics providers. These partners may receive information about your visit, including identifiers and pages viewed, and may use it to measure our ads or to show you ads elsewhere.
For legal and safety reasons
We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of MitigateMyHouse, our users, or the public.
In a business transfer
If MitigateMyHouse is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your information to data brokers, list brokers, or aggregators, and we do not share it with insurance companies, insurance agents, or public adjusters.
“Sale” and “sharing” under state privacy law
Contractors pay us a referral fee when we send them a request. Because that disclosure is made in exchange for payment, it may be treated as a “sale” of personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act and comparable laws in other states. Our use of advertising cookies may also be treated as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising.
You can opt out of these activities at any time. See Your privacy rights below, or email hello@mitigatemyhouse.com with the subject line “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.”
Opting out stops future sharing. It does not retrieve information already delivered to a contractor. To ask a contractor to delete what they hold, contact that contractor directly.
Consent to be contacted
When you check the consent box and submit our form, you agree that MitigateMyHouse and up to three contractors we select may contact you at the phone number and email address you provided — including by automatic telephone dialing system, prerecorded or artificial voice, and SMS text message — about the request you submitted.
Consent is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services. You can request contractor names and contact them yourself instead by emailing us.
Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Reply STOP to any text message to stop receiving texts from that sender, or HELP for help. To withdraw consent for contact from MitigateMyHouse, email hello@mitigatemyhouse.com. Withdrawing consent with us does not by itself stop a contractor who already received your request from contacting you — tell that contractor directly.
Cookies and tracking technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Site working, remember your preferences, understand how the Site is used, and measure advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the Site may not work correctly if you do.
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. We honor these requests from residents of every state, whether or not a particular law requires it of us.
- Know and access. Ask what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who we disclosed it to.
- Copy. Get a portable copy of the information you gave us.
- Correct. Ask us to fix inaccurate personal information.
- Delete. Ask us to delete personal information we hold about you.
- Opt out of sale, sharing, and targeted advertising. Tell us to stop sending your information to contractors and to stop using it for targeted advertising.
- Non-discrimination. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a lower quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.
- Appeal. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision. If we deny your appeal, you may complain to your state attorney general.
How to submit a request
Email hello@mitigatemyhouse.com with the request you want to make. So that we can find your record and confirm it is yours, please include the email address, phone number, and property address you used on the form. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission that we can verify.
We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why and may take up to 45 additional days.
We do not charge for these requests, and exercising them will not affect any referral already in progress unless you ask us to stop it.
How long we keep information
We keep form submissions for three years from the date you submit them, so that we can answer questions about a referral and defend against disputes. We keep server logs and analytics data for shorter periods set by those systems. We delete information sooner if you ask us to, unless we are required to keep it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls, to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for adults who own or manage residential property. It is not directed to children, we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, and we do not sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Third-party websites
The Site may link to state agencies, fire districts, and other outside resources. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced on this page before they take effect.
